Why is my GE refrigerator icing up?
Refrigerators freeze food because they cool down air around the food. Refrigerators are designed to remove moisture from the air around the food. This process is called evaporation. Evaporation removes moisture from the air around food. It does not affect the temperature of the food directly. To prevent the freezer from freezing, you need to open the door frequently and check if the freezer is full. If the freezer is full, you need to empty the contents into another container such as a plastic bag. Once the freezer is emptied, you need to put back the frozen items into the freezer.
Why is food freezing in my salad drawer?
Foods freeze because of the cold temperatures in the refrigerator. Cold air is denser than warm air, so it takes up more space. This means that the air in the fridge is colder than the surrounding air, so it stays closer to the freezer. As a result, the air around the food gets colder and colder, until eventually it reaches the point where it becomes solid ice.
How do I fix my GE refrigerator from freezing?
GE refrigerators have a tendency to ice up if you leave the door open while the unit is running. This happens because the compressor runs continuously and the condenser fan keeps blowing air into the freezer compartment. It’s not a problem unless you notice it happening. To fix it, turn off the power to the refrigerator and remove the front panel. Then, disconnect the two wires from the relay switch the black wire goes to the top left corner of the switch. Finally, reconnect the two wires to the relay switch. Turn the power back on and see if the ice stops forming.
